Otherworld Legends is developer ChillyRoom’s spiritual successor to their fan favorite roguelike Soul Knight, and following its launch in August of last year we chose it as our Game of the Week and included it among our Best Games of 2020. Yes, it’s real good. Well, as fans of Soul Knight know all too well, ChillyRoom doesn’t just release a game and call it a day. No, they add new content and features at a healthy pace during a game’s lifespan, and Otherworld Legends is no different. About a month after its initial launch a big update was released adding a new playable hero and a new environment, among many other things. What has followed since have been frequent, more minor updates adding new features here and there but mostly optimizing and tweaking the game based on player feedback. There was also a limited time Christmas-themed update in December. Now ChillyRoom is back with another major update which they are calling the Spring Festival update, and you can spot all sorts of new goodies in the trailer for it below.
This major update again adds a new playable character, the Western gunslinger Hannah, as well as a new environment called the Elfland. Another big new feature is cooperative multiplayer, though it is limited to local play only, but at least it’s a start. There’s also a bunch of new cosmetic skins for a selection of the heroes, one of which can be unlocked with in-game gems but the others are sold as IAP. It’s not a bad way to throw some extra money towards the developers who have already crafted one of the more generous free to play games around. There’s also a new NPC character named Meyer with new trials to complete for some special items, a new difficulty level, new boss skills, and more. It’s a real whopper of an update. As mentioned Otherworld Heroes is totally free to play and one of the better action roguelikes around, so be sure to give it a shot if you haven’t done so previously and drop by the thread in our forums for some discussion.
